COVID-19 continues to take its toll in Chatham-Kent.
Case numbers are rising once again and Public Health officials say another local resident has lost their life to the virus. That brings to 88 the number of local deaths caused by COVID-19.
There have now been a total of 10,099 cases of COVID-19 in the municipality, a figure which public health stresses is an under-representation due to limits on PCR testing.
Between October 16th and the 22nd, CK Public Health recorded 111 more cases of the virus, raising the seven-day average to 16 new high-risk cases a day.
There are now six COVID outbreaks across the municipality, including Oaks Retirement Village in Wallaceburg, Copper Terrace in Chatham, and four group homes.
Chatham-Kent’s positivity rate has jumped to 17.4%, up from 14.2% one week ago and above the provincial average of 16.2%.
