An interesting discussion will be held behind closed doors at the Civic Centre tonight as council debates the pros and cons of purchasing the old Navistar property.
The land has been vacant since the old truck factory was torn down and has been rumoured as a possible site for a future twin-pad arena.
The official agenda reads, “Proposed disposition and acquisition of land by the municipality and advice that is subject to solicitor-client privilege, including communications necessary for that purpose with regard to 508 Richmond Street, Chatham. Section 239(2)(c) & (f), Municipal Act, 2001.”
However, municipal officials won’t be making any comments following tonight’s closed session, and anything they do discuss will have to be presented to council before being made public.
