CK Unveils First Public Photo Installation

A new public art installation unveiled in downtown Wallaceburg is expected to make for a unique photo backdrop for residents and visitors alike.

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent has installed a public photo sculpture of two stainless steel hands forming a heart at the L.O. Stonehouse Bridge, which is intended to be used as a photo backdrop for those taking in the sights of downtown Wallaceburg.

“We’re going to be rolling out things like this across Chatham-Kent… we wanted to do the very first one in Wallaceburg,” said Mayor Darrin Canniff.

Anyone who then posts their photos on social media is encouraged to use the tag @municck.

“It’s something to put a smile on your face. It’s very cool looking and I’m looking forward to many more of them in Chatham-Kent,” Canniff added.

The installation was paid for through the Councillor Ward Funding Program, which enables councillors or the mayor to apply funds to projects they feel are priorities. The program is sponsored through an annual $1 million contribution from Hydro One.
