CK Wants More Control over Cannabis Stores

When it comes to the location of cannabis retailers in Chatham-Kent, the municipality is asking the province for some regulatory control.

As it stands, Chatham-Kent is welcoming of these types of stores, but Councillor Doug Sulman was hoping to restrict their location to more than 500 metres from any school, park, library, or community centre.

However, others around the table expressed concerns that this would essentially ban any stores in the community.

Council passed a motion to request for more leniency when it comes to cannabis retail locations, but chose not to specify an exact distance.
