Add Chatham-Kent to the chorus of Ontario municipalities asking Premier Doug Ford to re-open golf courses and outdoor recreation areas.

At their meeting held earlier this week, Chatham-Kent council approved sending a letter to Queen’s Park asking them to open golf courses and outdoor recreation areas in a safe manner.

Golf courses in the province have been empty the past few weeks, due to regulations put in place to help stop the spread of Covid-19. Ontario is the only state or province in North America that is currently prohibiting golf.

With the provincial stay-at-home order in place expected to be in place until at least June 2, it’s unlikely local golfers will be hitting the links for at least another three weeks.
