A local arts council is looking to support students heading into college or university.

The Chatham-Kent Arts and Culture Network has launched its inaugural Emerging Youth Artist Scholarship, which will provide one student entering a post-secondary arts program this fall with a $1,000 grant.

To be eligible, recipients must be between 16 and 20 years of age and planning to attend a recognized institution full-time, studying visual arts, music, performance arts, dance, literary arts, or cultural building.

Applicants are asked to submit a portfolio of work to the Arts and Culture Network no later than June 15, including a minimum of three works, and undergo an interview with the adjudication committee.

Interviews are set to take place in late June, with the scholarship winner announced in mid-August.

Scholarship applications with portfolios can be emailed to jamessnyderp@gmail.com before midnight, June 15, 2024.
