Despite word from Ontario’s chief medical officer of health that most provincial mask mandates will be lifted in public settings on Saturday, that won’t be the case at local hospitals.
Officials at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance issued a statement this morning saying mandatory masking will remain in effect for the foreseeable future for anyone attending either the Wallaceburg or Chatham sites, including staff, patients, and volunteers.
CKHA’s ongoing mandate also takes into consideration the higher risk environment in which CKHA operates with many elderly and immunocompromised patients.
On Wednesday, Dr. Kieran Moore said mask mandates will remain in place for long term care and retirement homes, and encouraged in high-risk congregate living settings such as group homes and shelters.
