The Chatham-Kent Health Alliance is working to make patient’s stay in hospital a little more comfortable.

A rooftop patio on the Complex Continuing Care unit in Chatham has undergone some renovations over the last few months, providing a safe, accessible outdoor area where patients, families, and visitors can get some fresh air.

“The garden patio was designed to be wheelchair accessible and encompasses a flower bed installed at the appropriate height for patients who would like to do some gardening during their stay in hospital,” says Lori Marshall, President and CEO. “Having the opportunity to garden or simply enjoy an outdoor space is beneficial to our patients’ recovery.”

The patio was first installed in 2007 thanks to a donation from Wes and Pat Thompson.
