In line with other hospitals in Ontario, the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) will no longer actively screen patients and visitors for COVID-19.
Hospital officials said as of December 1, CKHA will no longer have staff screeners working at public entrances at the Chatham and Wallaceburg sites.
However, a passive screening process will remain in effect through signage that details a self-assessment of symptoms, which should be completed before entering the hospital. Hand sanitizer and medical-grade masks will also be made available at the public entrances.
Wearing a medical-grade mask will remain mandatory for everyone while visiting the hospital. Inpatients and visitors are also expected to be double vaccinated for COVID-19 or have a negative test prior to attending CKHA’s sites.
In addition, most inpatients will now be allowed to have two care partners at the bedside during visiting hours.
