The Chatham-Kent Public Library is teaming up with the Chatham-Kent Ontario Health Team to help local residents get online.
Thanks to the new partnership, each of the 11 branches of the public library in CK now have Chromebook laptops available to be borrowed.
The computers, which run on the Google operating system, are a smaller, easier to use alternative to a Windows laptop or MacBook, and are data-enabled allowing users to access the internet from anywhere, no wifi connection needed.
The Chromebook lending program is part of ‘Connect CK’, an initiative aimed at reducing the digital divide for residents in CK.
Community Navigators can also help low-income youth or families and qualifying non-profit and charitable organizations with obtaining a refurbished computer at no cost. This initiative is in partnership with Habitat for Humanity and the Municipality of Chatham-Kent.
The library Chromebooks are available to adult patrons 16 and older with a valid library card, and can be borrowed for up to 21 days.
Reservations are required by contacting any CKPL branch.
