It’s a sure sign of spring.
The Chatham-Kent Public Library is now offering its annual ‘seed library’ for another season.
All 11 branches of the CKPL will have a variety of vegetable, herb, and flower seeds to “borrow.”
Last year, over 6300 seed packages were handed out across the municipality.
Officials say the CKPL Grows Seed Library provides a chance for area residents to have access to affordable food and create beautiful spaces in their own backyards.
The seed packages are free of charge, and residents are encouraged to save the seeds they grow and return some back to the library at the end of the growing season.
Gardeners are also encouraged to “grow a row” for the Salvation Army’s food banks. Produce can be donated to food banks in Chatham, Blenheim, Ridgetown, and Wallaceburg.
