The Ontario Special Investigations Unit has cleared the Chatham-Kent K9 unit of any wrongdoing in connection to an incident almost a year ago.

A 27-year old man was arrested on October 24th, 2018 and was bitten by a police dog.

According to the provincial watchdog’s report, the dog bit the man’s left thigh and right hand, fracturing one finger.

The decision says that while the dog’s behaviour was a departure from the training it has received, there are no reasonable grounds to lay criminal charges.
