Another phone scam is making the rounds, this time using Chatham-Kent Police as their front.

According to authorities, a local resident got a call Monday morning from the CKPS front desk number (519-436-6600,) from a person claiming the man’s identity had been stolen and several accounts opened in his name.

However, the would-be victim realized the call was a fake and refused to provide any personal or financial information.

It’s not uncommon for scammers to ‘spoof’ what would be a trusted phone number, trying to trick their victims into answering the call.
