CK’s COVID Numbers Dip, Ontario’s Jump Up

Another day, another provincial record for new cases of COVID-19.

Health Minister Christine Elliott says there have been 4249 new infections confirmed in the last day. Part of the increase is due to a delay in uploading data from Toronto Public Health, with 450 extra cases from earlier in the week added to today’s count.

Another 12 people have died from the virus in Windsor-Essex. That brings the total death toll in the region to 202 since the pandemic began. Health officials are also reporting another 201 new infections today.

Chatham-Kent’s numbers have dipped back down with public health reporting two new cases today combined with 23 recoveries, bringing the active case count to 121. Four local patients remain in hospital, and there are still 11 outbreaks on the books, including 7 workplaces, 3 institutional, and one congregate living setting.

Meantime the number of active cases in Lambton County continues to decline with 48 new infections being reported today, and another 58 cases resolved. That lowers the total number of active cases to 221.
