CK’s COVID Numbers Spike, One CKHA Outbreak is Cleared

Chatham-Kent’s active COVID stats has jumped up again with 23 new cases today. Combined with 10 recoveries, the total active caseload now sits at 78.

There is some good news though. The lab services outbreak at the Health Alliance has been declared over. Infection prevention and control measures will remain in place across the organization, and officials plan to review and monitor the ongoing effects of the pandemic on the hospital organization.

One COVID patient has now been released from hospital, leaving just one local resident in care being treated for the virus.

Three outbreaks remain on the books – the dialysis unit outbreak at the Chatham hospital, Copper Terrace long term care facility, and the un-named place of worship.

Elsewhere around the region, Windsor-Essex is adding 30 new cases today. 28 new cases in Lambton County.

And across Ontario, the Ministry of Health says there have been 1553 new confirmed cases in the last 24 hours, along with 15 more deaths linked to the virus.
