Chatham Kent Transit is getting a new name.
As of Friday, July 2nd Chatham Kent’s public transit services will officially adopt the name Ride CK.
Manager of Engineering Ann-Marie Millson says the fresh branding compliments the permanent implementation of Chatham’s Route 5, mid-day runs on Inter-Urban routes A, C and D as well as on request evening service operating past midnight Monday to Friday.
These new transit services have been implemented based on public feedback following a successful pilot period.
The system is adding some new vehicles on the road as well – 13 battery electric low-floor transit buses, and two new accessibility service vehicles as well as a dual door bus to be added to Route 1 in the fall.
Funding for the new vehicles was provided by the Provincial and Federal governments under the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program and Gas Tax Funds for Public Transportation.
