Chatham-Kent’s locally-owned radio station is stepping up to help those facing food insecurity in their community.
99.1 CKXS will be holding its Thanksgiving Food Drive on Thursday at No Frills grocery store locations in Chatham, Wallaceburg, and Corunna.
Officials with Outreach for Hunger say the need is dire with over 4500 households being served, including 760 new families registering for assistance over the first nine months of the year. The food bank has handed out the equivalent of 8860 meals and 2110 school lunches between January and the end of September.
All food and cash donations will directly support Outreach For Hunger in Chatham and the Salvation Army in Wallaceburg, as well as local food banks in Corunna and Petrolia.
Those making a donation can also fill out a ballot for a chance to win a $50 No Frills gift card.
