Those looking to show good environmental stewardship are encouraged to participate in an upcoming community clean-up event.

The Sydenham Field Naturalists are holding the event on Saturday in an effort to bring the community together to remove man-made garbage from local waterways and dune ecosystems.

“We’re thrilled to organize this community clean-up event in celebration of Earth Day,” said group vice president Ismay Earl in a news release. “It’s an opportunity for us to demonstrate the power of collective action and make a real impact on our local environment.”

TheĀ Earth Day Community Clean-up will take place at Rose Beach, Morpeth from noon until 4 p.m. and is being held in collaboration with the Municipality of Chatham-Kent and the Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority.

Garbage bags and gloves will be provided to participants, who will also have the chance to win prizes by entering a raffle.
