Chatham-Kent’s top doctor says the mass vaccination clinic at the Bradley Centre has just about served its purpose.
Medical Officer Dr. David Colby says with more than 74% of those 12 and older now with at least one dose of COVID-vaccine, the time has almost come to shift focus.
“The usefulness of the mass vaccination clinic will not continue very much longer, I would expect somewhere at the end of August to sometime in September that will be packed in,” Dr. Colby says.
As of the last update from Public Health on Friday, 74% of Chatham-Kent residents over the age of 12 – more than 69-thousand people – have received their first dose of COVID vaccine, while 62% have had both shots.
“We’ll basically have the majority of people who are intending to get vaccinated have their second doses completed,” Dr. Colby says. “Then it’ll be a question of mop-up, which will be managed by primary care and pharmacies.”
Since the mass vaccination clinic opened its doors in February, more than 124,990 total doses of COVID vaccine have been administered.
