A stark warning from Chatham-Kent’s top doctor as cases of COVID-19 continues to rise across the province.
On Saturday, Premier Doug Ford announced tighter rules for social gatherings was being widened to include all of Ontario, not just hotspots around the GTA and Ottawa.
Chief Medical Officer Dr. David Colby says there could be more tightening of restrictions.’
“There’s a lot of discussion at the provincial level about the difficulties in getting people to adhere to this concept,” Colby says. “There has been discussion that hast not been completed yet about simply removing the social circle concept and going back to saying you must physically distance from anyone who’s not a member of your household.”
While Chatham-Kent’s number of active cases has remained quite low the past few weeks, provincial numbers continue to rise with another 365 confirmed on Sunday, down slightly from the over 400 new cases announced each of the two days previous.
