Before it even officially begins, a local fundraiser in support of those in need in Chatham-Kent has already surpassed its goal.

Tomorrow mark the Coldest Night of the year, an annual walk raising money for those experiencing hurt, hunger, and homelessness.

So far, 196 people have signed up to take part, raising over $64,000.

Organizers of the event, hosted by NeighbourLink CK, had hoped to raise $50,000.

Participants are invited to join the 5 kilometres walk starting at St Agnes School in Chatham between 4 and 7pm on Saturday.
