College students are returning to campus from their winter break today with a cloud of uncertainty hanging over their heads.
On Friday, faculty at 24 public colleges represented by the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU,) including St Clair and Lambton, issued a five-day strike notice. What form of strike action might take place, anything from work-to-rule to a full-fledged walkout, has yet to be decided.
The union represents roughly 15,000 full and part time professors and instructors, as well as librarians and counsellors, who have been without a collective agreement since September.
