Changes are coming to Chatham-Kent’s community partnership fund.

Crowds pack downtown Wallaceburg for WAMBO each summer.

The program is being re-branded as Together CK, which Mayor Darrin Canniff says will hopefully simplify the application process.

“A lot of the changes are to fix it up, this year’s process coming up will be a lot cleaner,” Canniff says. “This year was a change year, there were a lot of things that changed and it didn’t run the smoothest, but it had its effect in the community, a lot new events happened, a lot of citizens were incentivized to get involved.”

Meantime, a motion to help support four local community events has been passed, providing some financial support for events like WAMBO and the Otter Creek Jam Fest.

“I’m very happy that the four grants were approved,” says Ward 5 Councillor Carmen McGregor.  “I know they’re one time grants, but I am extremely happy that these have passed for the communities.”

Organizers had complained that bigger events like RetroFest were given more municipal funding and promotion.
