Due to the recent surge in COVID-19 cases in Chatham-Kent, Community Living Wallaceburg has temporarily suspended off-site family visits.
Community Living Wallaceburg posted a statement on social media on Friday:
Following a recent and significant increase in the number of COVID-19 positive cases in Chatham-Kent, the Medical Officer of Health issued an important reminder to all citizens and visitors to our region. “While we are in Stage 3, members of the community need to be reminded that we are still in a pandemic, and the potential for rapid spread of COVID-19 is very real,” says Dr. David Colby, Medical Officer of Health.
As a result of this increased level of risk within the community, Community Living Wallaceburg has made the difficult decision to suspend off-site family visits effective immediately, and until further notice. We are still able to facilitate on-site outdoor family visits which maintain physical distancing as per our established protocol.
We recognize that this decision will undoubtedly be difficult for families and people that we support and we appreciate your understanding during this challenging time.
As it has been since the beginning of the pandemic, our first priority remains the safety of the people we support and all of our employees.
