Concern continue to swirl about the condo development in downtown Chatham.
Councillor Michael Bondy wants to know if there’s anything the Municipality can do to speed things along.
“Something’s clearly wrong,” Bondy says. “I think as a municipality we have the obligation to address the developer and somehow put some pressure on the public land that it is taking advantage of.”
The Ward Six Councillor says he knows there are limits to what the Civic Centre can do.
“I understand kit’s private property, we can’t force anybody to finish anything. But we do have some leverage, and I believe we have to use that leverage because nothing takes that long to build.”
Mayor Randy Hope says the developers had plans to remove the barricades on King Street before winter, but may not be able to if they can’t get the insulation installed before the cold weather hits.
