Confirmed Case of COVID-19 At Chatham-Kent Secondary School

The Lambton-Kent District School Board is reporting a confirmed case of COVID-19 within the school community at Chatham-Kent Secondary School in Chatham.
47 students have been dismissed from the high school to quarantine due to potential exposure to the virus. The school remains open. Due to privacy considerations, no further information is being provided.
A note on the school board’s website reads as follows:
“Chatham-Kent Public Health has notified the Lambton Kent District School Board that there is a confirmed case of COVID-19 in the Chatham Kent Secondary School community. Chatham-Kent Public Health is working closely with the school community and is contacting any individuals (students and staff) who may have been in potential contact with the virus.”

CK Public Health will only call close contacts of probable or confirmed cases. If you have not been contacted, you/your child have not been in close contact with a probable or confirmed case and do not need to be tested or isolate.

CKSS previously dismissed 15 students on October 26th due to potential exposure to a probable case.
The Lambton-Kent District School Board says there is currently one positive case in the school community at each of CKSS, McNaughton Avenue Public School and Tecumseh Public School, all in Chatham.
Students have also previously been removed due to potential exposure at McNaughton Public School, Tecumseh Public School and UCC “The Pines” in Chatham as well as St. Anne’s Catholic School in Blenheim.
Parents are asked to continue to monitor your child for symptoms of COVID-19. If your child is ill, please keep them at home and call your health care provider or local health unit.
