The Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority (LTVCA) has approved a 17.3 per cent increase to its budget for 2022.

The LTVCA’s budget of $3,892,506 received approval at its annual general meeting last week. The budget represents an increase of $573,110 in overall spending compared to 2021.

The budget is divided up between the LTVCA’s 10 member municipalities — Chatham-Kent, Dutton Dunwich, Lakeshore, Leamington, London, Middlesex Centre, Southwest
Middlesex, Southwold, Strathroy-Caradoc and West Elgin.

In 2021, the LTVCA issued 74 flood bulletins and operated 22 provincial water quality monitoring sites.

As well, more than 84 volunteers gave over 360 hours of their time to support conservation authority initiatives and more than 40 community partners provided $1.82 million for watershed conservation.
