Lambton-Kent Middlesex MP Bev Shipley’s final budget in politics has left him disappointed.
Shipley says Finance Minister Bill Morneau has put a lot of money on the table.
“He’s going to spend $41-billion of money that he doesn’t have, there’s nothing that shows he will ever balance the budget, the taxes people are paying are going to go up, and we’re going to come out of it with a $20-billion deficit.”
When it comes to important rural issues like internet access, he’s worried the money won’t be invested.
“I’m hoping that there’ll be something also in his commitment to broadband access, he’s committed dollars in the budget, but that’s only talk,” Shipley says. “The actual distribution of funds is usually lacking.”
Shipley says he wanted to see tax cuts, reduced spending, and small business supports.
