Construction Ramping Up For Queens Line Roundabout

The construction of the new Queens Line roundabout is set to begin, and with it, several lane reductions and road closures.

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent said contractor Huron Construction is expected to begin moving equipment and installing traffic control signage and detour route information at the Queens Line and Merlin Road intersection starting this week. Along with the construction of the roundabout, the project also includes the rehabilitation of the Queens Line bridge.

Construction work in the westbound traffic lane of Queens Line will begin shortly after. While Queens Line will remain open for the majority of the construction, lane reductions and traffic delays are possible.

As part of the construction, Merlin Road between Queens Line and McDougall Line will be closed for around six weeks beginning on March 24.

The next two phases of construction will begin later in the spring and will include additional lane and road closures. The municipality will be providing updates with closure dates as the project progresses.

The roundabout is scheduled to be completed by July 2025.

Motorists traveling through the area during construction follow the posted speed limits and construction detour signage at all times. Access to all properties will be maintained throughout the project.
