The Ministry of Labour has been contacted after a construction worker was struck by a vehicle on Charing Cross Road.

Authorities were called to a two-vehicle collision the construction zone between 8th and 9th Line yesterday afternoon, where they say a flag person was hit.

Police continue to investigate, and remind all drivers to slow down and pay attention when approaching or driving through a construction zone.

“In this particular area there are signs leading up to the construction zone and barrels are on the side of the road, so there really is no excuse for motorists not to start slowing down and paying attention to their surroundings,” Cowell says. “People are just in a hurry, and for whatever reason they think they can maybe pass the person ahead of them and try and get through the construction zone.”

The construction worker was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
