A Walpole Island man has been arrested after a construction worker was struck by a passing vehicle in Wallaceburg.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said a pick-up truck was driving west on Dufferin Avenue at St. Clair Parkway through the marked construction zone at around 2:30 p.m. on Monday, when the right mirror of the vehicle struck a worker and pylons.
The vehicle continued driving west and emergency crews responded to the scene. The construction worker was taken to hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
A suspect was identified with the help of off-duty and on-duty officers, and was arrested at his home by Walpole Island Police.
As a result, a 71-year-old Walpole Island man is charged with dangerous driving causing bodily harm and failing to stop at a collision causing bodily harm.
The accused was turned over to Chatham-Kent police and later released with conditions and a future court date.
