Hospital officials are hoping to have core clinical systems back online by the end of the week following a major cyber-attack.
Officials with the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Bluewater Health, Erie Shores HealthCare, Hotel-Dieu Grace Healthcare, and Windsor Regional Hospital, along with their service provider Transform Shared Service Organization, released a joint statement this morning.
The October 23rd ransomware attack crippled the five hospitals, leaving them without computer or reporting systems, patient histories, staff files, and other sensitive data.
Officials say that affected charting systems started coming back online last week, on pace with the previously shared goal to have core clinical systems online by December 15, and they continue to closely monitor system integrity as networks are brought back online.
Progress at Bluewater Health in Sarnia is on an isolated plan due to the complexities of its system.
No timeline has been released at this point on when the hospitals’ systems will be fully restored.
Leadership from the five hospitals say extensive security measures have been put in place to safeguard their systems, and they are grateful for the patients of their respective communities and staff.
