A popular lawn game has helped raise more than $75,000 in support of end-of-life care in Chatham-Kent.
The Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation hosted the third annual Cornhole for Hospice fundraiser at the John D. Bradley Convention Centre on Saturday, featuring a full day of fun, competition, and charitable giving.
The event raised a total of $76,574 that will go towards residential hospice care, care coordination, as well as grief and bereavement support for people across Chatham-Kent.
“We are so grateful for all of the teams who came out to support this event, as well as all of the donors and sponsors who made Cornhole for Hospice such a success,” said Brock McGregor, the executive director of the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation, in a news release. “The community support we receive is fundamental to continuing to provide compassionate end-of-life care at no cost in Chatham-Kent.”
Dozens of two-person teams took part in the fundraiser, including Larry McKinney and Chad Grant of CF Industries, who earned the championship trophy and a $500 cash prize. Jay Charette and Bobby Pickering of Shuck Dynasty also secured a $250 prize.
