Council Compensation Questioned

Should the Chatham-Kent mayor and councillors be paid more? That question will be brought up during Monday night’s council meeting.

Currently, the mayor receives a $93,600 honorarium, while the councillor position receives nearly $28,000 annually.

The Citizen Review Committee will present a recommendation to council that the positions increase to $100,000 and $32,000 respectively for the next four years.

A similar motion was made last year, and council turned it down.
