The municipality will be taking a closer look at unused railway crossings in Wallaceburg.
Passed in Monday’s consent agenda, Councillor Aaron Hall’s motion directing administration to prepare a report on the crossings was approved.
The report will include the number of railway crossings, where they are located, their condition, and how much it would cost to remove them. A status and property standards update will also be done on the Sydenham River rail bridge.
Next sessions council will also receive a closed session presentation on the history and current status of the rail system throughout Wallaceburg.
Administration recommended the report, which should be presented to council in the fall, also include all crossing structures located on the former, privately owned, Lake Erie and Detroit River Railway line between Chatham and Wallaceburg.
