An international curling event is coming to Chatham.
Chatham-Kent Council is supporting the Pinty’s Elite 10 – Grand Slam of Curling event to the tune of $160,000.
Rand MacIntosh, President of the Chatham Granite Club, says they’re pleased with Council’s decision.
“We’re terribly excited, it’s a great feeling ot see the council support an event like this,” MacIntosh says. “We’re looking forward to hosting the 2018 Grand Slam Elite 10.”
The event will take place next September 25-30th, with the top male and female curlers in the world coming to Chatham to compete.
As many as 15-20,000 people are expected to attend the six-day event at the Thames Campus arena, which will also be broadcast on Sportsnet.
