With a backdrop of closures on Rose Beach Line and Talbot Trail due to erosion, historically high water in the Thames, Sydenham, Lake St.Clair and Lake Erie, local politicians will debate declaring a climate emergency.
According to the motion, the impacts of climate change could be catastrophic to the local economy and municipal budget.
Sarnia recently made a similar declaration, and the federal government passed a motion in June recognizing a national climate emergency.
