The creation of a dog park in the community of Dresden could take a big step forward at Chatham-Kent’s council meeting tonight.

Council will discuss and look to approve a Dog Off-Leash Recreation Area designation for the Stranak Conservation Area. Council will also look to have a committee be authorized to fundraise for the dog park infrastructure costs.

If approved, the municipality will hammer out a lease agreement with the St. Clair Region Conservation Authority, as well as an agreement for Chatham-Kent to provide costs for maintenance, development, and the use of the land.

Currently, there are two dog parks in Chatham-Kent, in Chatham and Wallaceburg.
