The municipality could soon change how it decides who gets funding through the Community Partnership Fund.
Councillor Karen Kirkwood-Whyte made a motion a month ago to strike a committee made up of residents, which replaces the current process of staff making the decisions.
In a report to council on Monday, it’s being recommended that a committee of eight residents and five staff members be struck to determine successful applicants.
Those applications would still have to meet all of the criteria already laid out through the current policy.
The Community Partnership Fund was increased to more than $800,000 during the 2019 budget deliberations.
