Council to Discuss Theatre Upgrades

Citing an uptick in usage for both the Kiwanis and Capitol theatres, municipal staff believe now is the time to invest in upgrades.

Both theatres have seen 18-25% increase in usage in the last four years, and council will be asked Monday to take some money out of theatre reserves to invest in the buildings.

The Capitol would get a nearly $100,000 upgrade to a projection screen, lighting console, and stage lighting.

The Kiwanis could see new seating, an expanded sound booth, and more.  Those costs would be around $177,000.
