The next steps in developing the new St. Clair College Community Park will be taken at the Civic Centre next week.
On Monday night, members of Chatham-Kent Council will vote on the tender for the second phase of the recreational hub on Bear Line Road.
Westhoek Construction Limited was the lowest of seven bids presented to the municipality in the amount of $3,303,906.71, including HST.
In May 2023, council approved the donation of 19.5 acres of land from St. Clair College. Phase one, completed in October, included all engineering work, construction of the underground infrastructure, parking lot, and the Rogers Tennis Dome.
Phase two will add 10 pickleball courts, two washroom buildings, a playground, two basketball courts, and associated pathways and park features.
According to the report being presented to council, if the bid is approved, construction on the second phase is set to start in April 2026 and is expected to wrap up by fall 2026.
