The municipality is looking into making information more easily accessible for area residents.
Councillor Karen Kirkwood-Whyte will be presenting a notice of motion at tonight’s meeting to have a report put together on what are called N-1-1 numbers, including 211, 311, and 911.
The Ward six representative would like to see more awareness of the 211 social service hotline with branding on emergency vehicles, change the Civic Centre’s phone number to 311, and a detailed look at the number of non-emergency calls being made to 911.
Kirkwood-Whyte says other communities make use of the 311 number for municipal information and to make complaints about road damage or graffiti, and could provide savings for both staff and financial resources.
