The board of the Mary Webb Centre will be able to access up to $62,500 of municipal money to further construction on the Highgate venue.
Council approved a matching funds grant this past Monday to broad based support.
One of only two opposed was Councillor Derek Robertson. He says it’s a matter of priority.
“I think that the Mary Webb Centre is an absolute jewel in our community, however, very much like the way that I’ve supported other grant efforts within Chatham-Kent, I don’t see it filling the same necessary gap as a hospice, or the YMCA”, Robertson says.
Councillor Brock McGregor was the other dissenting voice.
