Councilor Calls For Park Security Cameras

A Ward 1 Councilor is calling for security cameras to be placed in parks around the municipality in the wake of recent vandalism.

Mark Authier is fed up with the expenses Chatham-Kent taxpayers are forced to pay out when vandals strike.

The most recent example in Wallaceburg at Glen Mickle park when  a restroom was vandalized.

The damage estimate from that one act was between 3-5 thousand dollars.

Authier believes security cameras would be cheaper in the long run and wants them installed in Wallaceburg, Erieau, and Tilbury.

Council will discuss the matter Monday night.
