Twenty Chatham-Kent residents have now died from COVID-19 just this month, with the virus claiming one more life since yesterday.
In their daily update on Thursday, Chatham-Kent Public Health officials said a man in his 70s has passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance as a result of the virus, bringing the local death toll to 47 since the pandemic began.
Another group home in Chatham-Kent is reporting a COVID-19 outbreak with 23 linked cases. There are now 11 active outbreaks within the municipality — six at local group homes and five at long-term care and retirement homes. Outbreaks at Wallaceburg Retirement Residence and Hudson Manor have been resolved.
The current seven-day rolling average case count now sits at 58 per day with 73 new infections reported on Thursday.
At the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, 14 patients are currently being treated for COVID-19.
