Another Chatham-Kent resident has lost their life to COVID-19.
With this most recent death, the total number of deaths recorded since the beginning of the pandemic has increased to 91.
In its weekly report, Chatham-Kent Public Health reported that 70 new cases of the virus were detected between November 6-12, bringing the seven-day average to 10 new cases per day.
Chatham-Kent’s positivity rate has increased to 15.8 per cent from 13.9 per cent a week ago. The provincial average for the past week is 12.2 per cent.
Public health officials noted that the number of active cases in the municipality is an underestimate due to restrictions on PCR testing.
There is currently an active COVID-19 outbreak at Riverview Gardens long-term care home in Chatham, with a total of 10 cases since November 10. An outbreak at Park Street Place in Dresden remains in effect with seven total cases since November 3.
