Another local resident has lost their life to COVID-19.
That brings to 92 the number of Chatham-Kent residents to succumb to the virus since the pandemic began.
Overall, 65 high risk cases have been confirmed between November 27th and December 3rd, lowering the seven-day average to nine new cases a day. CK Public Health officials continue to stress lab confirmed cases underestimate the true number of people infected with COVID-19 in the community due to testing limitations.
The positivity rate in Chatham-Kent has slipped to 11.4%, down from 13.9% the week before. The provincial rate is 10.7%.
There are two active outbreaks in the community with 22 total infections at Riverview Gardens long term care home in Chatham since November 21st. Three cases have been identified at St Angela’s Meadow Retirement Lodge with an outbreak declared November 29th.
