As the seventh wave of the COVID-19 pandemic continues to sweep across the province, Chatham-Kent’s hospital is reporting its first outbreak of the virus since early May.
The Chatham-Kent Health Alliance said the outbreak has been declared in the hospital’s Complex Continuing Care Unit, located on the fourth floor of the Chatham site.
The outbreak was declared after CK Public Health identified six cases of healthcare-acquired COVID-19.
Hospital officials said they have implemented a number of additional initiatives in response to the outbreak, which will remain in place until the outbreak is rescinded.
The last COVID-19 outbreak at CKHA was in effect from May 11 to June 2 and was linked to 12 cases of the virus.
