Public health officials are planning to scale back how often they report on COVID-19 cases in Chatham-Kent, before ceasing the practice altogether.
Chatham-Kent Public Health has announced that its weekly COVID-19 Surveillance Report will only be released bi-weekly in May, on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month.
The health unit will then “pause” all COVID-19 reporting beginning on June 1.
According to the last COVID-19 report released by the health unit on April 26, Chatham-Kent is currently sitting at a positivity rate of 4.5 per cent, compared to the provincial rate of 7.6 per cent.
The report shows a significant reduction from a month prior when CK Public Health reported a positivity rate of 21.8 per cent on March 22.
After June 1, COVID-19 data and respiratory surveillance reports will remain available through Public Health Ontario and the Government of Canada.
