As Chatham-Kent Public Health continues to keep tabs on an outbreak of COVID-19 at the Wallaceburg Walmart store, the company is confirming a positive case at its Chatham store as well.
Walmart Canada’s Manager of Corporate Affairs, Felicia Fefer, says the employee last worked at the St Clair Street location on January 11th, and is now isolating.
“Safety continues to be a top priority at Walmart. Rest assured, we will continue to take measures to support the well-being of our customers and associates,” Fefer says.
An outbreak was declared at the Wallaceburg store on Friday following five positive cases of the virus. Chief Medical Officer Dr. David Colby has said that while the agency’s investigation has not been able to find any evidence of transmission within the workplace, it can’t be ruled out.
Overall, Chatham-Kent currently has 104 active COVID cases with seven area residents in hospital.
